Following is a brief and limited summary of the activities of the Hope Center:

Our Mission: To come alongside those within inner city communities; showing God’s love by providing hope and help through a variety of activities, including literacy, tutoring, mentoring and life skills training.

Inner city communities are in a state of chaos with many living in difficult conditions of hopelessness and despair. As we engage those individuals and families, we know that many can be encouraged and motivated to make significant life decisions to break out of those destructive life cycles. The programs initiated through the Hope Center give the support and provide the needed resources to reach these at-risk individuals with increased knowledge and skills necessary to become a better citizen, equipped to meet the challenges within our culture.

We know from experience that when attitudes change, behavioral patterns follow and we begin to see the development of a person with a new mindset toward life. Much of this is accomplished through basic life skills training as well as spiritual input into their lives.

As seen in our mission statement, we use a variety of means to reach out and show God’s love to those who are often overlooked and who need someone to come alongside and show them they are loved. When we reach one youth or one adult or one family and see their life changed, we know this can impact generations to come. Rather than being a burden to society, they contribute as productive citizens.

The Hope Center of Greenville is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit, faith-based organization, established in 2006 to provide opportunities for at-risk inner-city families. Various services are offered, including tutoring, mentoring, literacy, and life-skills training, provided at no cost to recipients.

One of our most effective programs are computer classes offered in our state-of-the-art computer lab with Dell computers and flat screen monitors. Computer classes from basics to advanced levels & GED training are available at no cost to the participants. Donated used units are given to individuals who cannot afford them. From 2009 and up to this point of 2017 we have given out over 400 of these used computer systems. Since mid-October 2011, free computer classes have been offered in our lab on Monday & Friday mornings of each week.

Facilities are in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, 2615 Crockett St. Mailing address: PO Box 5, Greenville, TX 75403.
